Legacy designer Michael Burr modernized this flood-damaged home and prepared it for sale with a complete renovation of the main floor. He wanted to appeal to potential buyers with a transitional style that leaned toward modern, including interesting features to make the home stand out in a crowded real estate market.
The horizontal panelling on the island and wood chimney hood speak to a modern, linear feel. Using different materials allowed us to introduce texture for visual interest that contrast beautifully with the flooring, countertop and subway tile.
The island incorporates several interesting features. The thick shelving magnifies the horizontal elements in the design while the beverage fridge is a completely custom and unique piece integrated with a custom wood panel and matching horizontal panelling. The design includes an abundance of pot and pan drawers, pull-out trash and recycle bins and a pull-out pantry shelving unit for excellent functionality.
The bathroom has a feeling of simplicity with presence; it is very functional, yet the design feels spacious and luxurious.
